Crew map

See where your crew is, only while they’re on the clock

Northdesk’s crew map shows who is on the clock and where, live, from their phones. Look back at anyone’s day as a route: on a job, driving or stopped.

The crew map: crew on the clock at three job sites and one driving, with their status on the left.

Why contractors want a crew map

When a client calls asking when the crew will arrive, when a delivery needs someone at the gate, or when you need to send the closest person to a problem, you need to know where people are without five phone calls. A crew map answers that at a glance.

Live, from the phones they already carry

  • Live positions, refreshed every 30 seconds.
  • Status on the left: on a project, driving, or at the shop.
  • Each day as a route with a timeline, to look back at where the time went.
  • Only while people are clocked in. Off the clock, nothing is tracked.

Fair to your crew

Tracking only while someone is clocked in is a clear rule your crew can agree with: the company sees the working day, and nothing else. It also protects everyone when a client disputes when the crew arrived or left.

Trucks, too

Crew and truck tracking sit together, so you can see vehicles alongside people. Tools and materials are tracked by place as well: the shop, the yard, every truck and every site.

Tools: who has each one, where it is, its condition, and Check out or Return.

Tied to the schedule and the clock

The crew map is part of the same system as the schedule and the time clock. Your Dashboard shows who is on site at each project today; the map shows where everyone else is. With the Texts add-on, a crew member can tap “On my way” and the client gets a text from your company with the arrival time.

Questions people ask

Does the crew map track people off the clock?

No. Positions are recorded only while someone is clocked in.

How often does the map refresh?

Every 30 seconds.

Do I need GPS devices in the trucks?

Not for the crew map: it uses the crew’s phones. Vehicle tracking can be shown alongside.

Can I see where someone was yesterday?

Yes. Each day can be replayed as a route with a timeline: on a job, driving or stopped.
