What a construction AI assistant should actually do

Most “AI for contractors” is a chat window that knows nothing about your company. You still have to look up who is where, retype it into a message, and go back to the schedule to make the change.

It does the busywork

Dex can put people on projects and tell them, send messages, clock people in and out, record the materials used on a project, and open the screen you need. “We used 10 bags of mortar at Thompson” becomes a materials record on that project, with no form to fill.

Anything that matters goes through you. Dex drafts estimates but never sends them; it suggests where bank charges belong and the office approves them.

It follows the work from the end-of-day photos

At the end of each day the crew photographs the same tagged spots on the project. Dex compares each day with the one before and tracks progress. When it can’t tell how far the work got, it asks the office a short question on the Dashboard, and your answer stays with your company so it learns.
