Hours written on Friday from memory are rarely right, and they are almost never split by project. So payroll takes longer, and job costing is a guess. A time clock built for construction fixes both: people clock in where the work is, and the hours carry the project with them.

Clock in from the phone

• On a project, driving or at the shop: each clock-in carries what the person was doing.
• Works in any phone browser today, with nothing to install. Android and iPhone apps are in testing.
• Your Dashboard shows who is working where right now, and who is scheduled but hasn’t clocked in.
• Dex can clock people in and out when you ask, and answers “How many hours did Luis work this week?”

Subs, inspectors and visitors sign in too

Every project has a QR code at the entrance. Subs, inspectors and visitors scan it to sign in and out, with no app or account. The project page shows everyone on site today, grouped by company, with their times.

Hours in, payroll ready

Each person’s hours flow live into their pay period. Record payroll for the period in one batch, with the payment method (direct deposit, check or cash), advances and repayments. Pay schedules can be set per person or per group, and everything exports. Northdesk records payroll; payroll processing is coming.

Hours by project, for real job costing

Because every clock-in carries its project, the hours show up in each project’s costs. That makes the money dashboard’s profit by project real, and gives Dex an honest record of how long work actually takes when it helps you price the next one.
